INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OWNERSHIP

Examples of your Intellectual Property assets are the name of your business, the logo for your brand, the concept of goods and services, and much more. These intellectual property rights are important because they can: set your business apart from competitors, be sold or licensed, provide an important revenue stream, or offer customers something new and different.

TRADEMARK

TRADEMARKS protect your brand name, logo, or slogan so customers can identify your business. Once the full registration is granted from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), this protection helps stop others from using confusingly similar branding.

Provisional patent

PROVISIONAL PATENTS give temporary protection (12 months) for an invention while you refine it or seek funding. This is also the process that allows you to use the term, "Patent Pending".

DESIGN PATENT

DESIGN PATENTS protect the unique visual design or shape of your product. Helps prevent competitors from copying how your product looks.

Copyright

COPYRIGHTS protect original content such as photos, writing, graphics, videos, or software code. Becoming a registered owner with the Copyright Office ensures you control how these creative works are used or shared.
